The luck of the Irish wasn’t with one motorist charged for impaired driving during a St. Patrick’s Day roadside RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program in LaSalle Monday night.

Law enforcement stopped more than 1,656 vehicles at RIDE program locations in Windsor, LaSalle, and Amherstburg.

According to Windsor police, out of the approximately 1,100 vehicles checked, a total of 28 roadside tests were administered during the traffic blitz.

In a tweet posted Tuesday morning to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, Windsor police said officers found no impaired drivers during the RIDE program.

A total of 556 vehicles were also checked in LaSalle on Monday night.

In a social media post Tuesday, LaSalle police said four roadside tests were administered and one driver was charged with impaired driving.

The driver was issued a 90-day licence suspension and had their vehicle impounded for seven days.

“Thank you to everyone for drinking responsibly and being safe this St. Patrick’s Day,” Windsor police said in a statement Tuesday.
